Meet the Rhodes

Getting married should always be an exciting time in life! Picking the dress, setting the guest list, and preparing your vows to become one with the person you love. For many couples this past year, they were robbed of so many of the joys of having a wedding. Chad and Kelsey Rhodes were no exception to that.

Chad and Kelsey met while working at the Acworth Home Depot. Chad, an Acworth native, had joined right after his 18th birthday in October of 2014 and worked in the parking lot. Kelsey had moved to Kennesaw from West Palm Beach to attend Georgia Highlands and then Kennesaw State University. She began working as a cashier at Home Depot and their connection was felt the instant they met.

Chad is a licensed Georgia realtor who is experienced in construction. He grew up working on commercial and residential home projects with his father’s business. Chad ended up rejoining Home Depot and now works as a measure technician for installing and refacing kitchen cabinets.

Kelsey received a degree in Organizational Communication from Kennesaw State and went on to work for Home Depot corporate. Currently, she is responsible for any communication involving safety to their supply chain and store associates. She ensures messages are delivered to keep their associates and customers sage while working and shopping in Home Depot stores and distribution centers across the U.S.

In 2018, Chad’s family took a trip to Hawaii to celebrate graduating college. They were on top of the Haleakala Volcano early in the morning to see the sun rise above the clouds (10,000 feet above sea level!) when Chad got down on one knee and asked Kelsey to marry him!

Chad and Kelsey were engaged for almost 2 years, planning the perfect wedding full of family and friends and moving to Paulding. They had friends coming from all over the country, so when COVID hit, it was apparent they needed to cancel their dream wedding. But they didn’t let that stop them from getting married!

On May 1st, 2020, Kelsey and Chad tied the knot! This day ended up being extra special as it was also their 5 year dating anniversary. Chad’s family surprised them both by painting his childhood playhouse turned chicken coup and decorating their backyard for a perfect spring wedding. Their immediate family was able to witness their marriage and Facebook live provided them a way to share the day with loved ones.

Getting married during COVID meant lots of time home with one another and their pups! Chad and Kelsey have spent lots of time making their home their own. They enjoy working together on projects and it has truly paid off! The kitchen is among their favorite places in their home. We always end up sitting and talking in the kitchen. It is the heart of our home. Many laughs have happened around our table with family and friends!

These two lovebirds have never made a big deal out of Valentine’s Day. They usually end up driving around town to see what restaurant has the shortest wait time since they forgot to make reservations. The ideal Valentine’s Day for them, according to Kelsey, is a night at home with steak and a bottle of wine!
